Job Scam Leaves Victims in Distress

In a troubling incident, two residents of Uttar Pradesh were allegedly swindled out of ₹4.5 lakh under the pretense of securing jobs in Russia, only to be abandoned without food or shelter. This information was disclosed by the police on Tuesday.

The police reported that the victims were initially sent to Kazakhstan on July 1, before being transported to Omsk, Russia, where they were ultimately left stranded. A senior official stated, 'They neither found employment nor accommodation and had to endure several days without food.'

Eventually, the victims managed to reach out to their families, who sent them money for return tickets. They successfully returned to India on July 17. Authorities noted that instead of proper work permits, the victims were allegedly issued tourist visas for their trip to Russia.

Further investigation revealed that the accused had collected ₹50,000 in cash and an additional ₹4.05 lakh through online transfers from the victims. Following a complaint from one of the victims, the Delhi police's crime branch has initiated an inquiry into the matter.
